US Soldier Questioned Over Rape of Woman

South Korean police on Sunday investigated a U.S. soldier over raping and beating an elderly Korean woman.

The police requested an arrest warrant for the 8th Army soldier identified only by the initial G.

According to the police, he beat the 67-year-old woman’s face and raped her in a residential area in Mapo of western Seoul last morning.

Police officers said that they caught him after they heard her screaming and rushed to the scene while patrolling the area.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for her injuries, they said.

The soldier used his right to keep silent just identifying himself as a member of the United States Forces Korea (USFK).

The police said they will seek a warrant to take him into custody for questioning, under the South Korea-United States Status of Forces Agreement. Under the agreement, Korea has jurisdiction over crimes such as murder, rape or arson.

Later on that day, the USFK apologized for the soldier’s conduct through a press release.

``While no words can lessen the anguish of the victim or her family, I deeply regret and personally apologize for this terrible incident that has resulted in grave injury to a Korean civilian,’’ Major General John Morgan, acting 8th Army Commander, said.

``This vicious act is an affront to all soldiers. It taints both our reputations and the sacrifices made by all USFK Service members who live and work honorably within this great society,’’ General Morgan said.

A joint investigation is underway and the USFK is cooperating with the Korean authorities to see that the individual responsible for this crime is brought to justice, he added.

Just a few month after a US soldier got sentenched 40 years for raping a Filipina in the Philippines.
Some of these guys need to be thought serious discipline... disgusting!

but that was by the philippine government, in this case the u.s military court will do the sentencing which often results in something very mild like suspension or even only deployment

yeah I was there this last time....I really didn't wanna go b/c I don't generally get along well with enlisted soldiers and I figured the whole vibe would be wierd. but we had to find this one article of clothing for my in-laws that was like korean but obviously designed for americans.....so we went to Itaewon. the closer the subway got the more questionable looking the women were. suddenly the americans became more and more....they grew confident and cocky....cussing and acting like it was a street corner in the ghetto or something. we get off the train and it is such a wierd place.....broad daylight and GI's are slammin' beers in the street, more blacks than most parts of the US...(nothing at all wrong with that just different for Korea) SUV's flying around blaring hardcore rap....slutty girls, pretty girls, scary looking korean salesmen all mixed in with regular looking korean folk. my wife was like....."over here is that place they always talk about "hooker hill" "and we walked a couple more blocks and I told her I was just too uncomfortable so we left after buying my sister in laws clothes. my wife told me that if i wanted too we could go and try out the place at night just to see and i was like "hells no!" lol

Someone in this forum just got turned on by reading about a 67 yr old woman getting raped. There was a topic on this once in this forum somewhere and everybody came out and said that they get turned on by someone getting owned.
