The Peninsula Bangkok

The Peninsula Bangkok occupies a world of its own on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, with many other worlds for guests to discover within. The ingenious W-shaped design, which ensures river views for all rooms has become a landmark, a classic of modern Bangkok architecture. By blending east and west and historic with modern, The Peninsula Bangkok brings something fresh and truly exotic to the city's five star-hotel scene.

Aow, Ai...CM is famous but never the less i'm still proud of my little humble city CR.
You will not be disapoint of CR. Since you're not night life type of person (are you?), Cr is famous for trekking routes and a gateway to 3 countries. beerchug.gif biggthumpup.gif
Famous name in old days : golden triangle = drugs route 555 not now anymore though but however its still YABaa route via Burman to Thailand. Also a famous cross point for north Koreans.

Golden triangle is still famous for its 3 angle points though.

Isn't Chaing Rai that was briefly featured in "Air America", a film about the CIA in northern Laos, with Mel Gibson and Downey as main actors? The city and its temples seen from above looked very beautiful.

I've been in Chiang mai for 3 times, Chiang rai once and Lampoon once.
When I was in Chianf rai, I stayed in Mae Jan แม่จัน district and sometimes traveled to Mas sai แม่สาย.
Chiang rai's weather is really cold but I like it. biggthumpup.gif

I like the wall painting, its not common you will see them at a property like a hotel, they are mostly found at the temple.
But its nice tough...you can see the daily activities of the peoples in the past. biggthumpup.gif
Would sure want to have this kind of wall painting for my house. love2.gif

Anywhere at all.

Aitong, since you're going to CR why not make your trip to CM, its just 2.50 hours drive from CM to CR. I recommend you to take a flight (if you will leave Bkk to CR) to CM first then start your short trip to some of the CM highlights such as Doi Suthep, Ratcha Pruk expo, visits CM old temples, they are around the old city, you can probably walking by foot to see a temple after another. If you want to stay for the night, am sure the Night Bazaar is the place to buy some gifts or if you like the night life scene it wouldnt be too hard to find, CM have lots of it.
Next day or if you going to CR, take a bus to CR, thy used to have a flight from CM to CR but it was cancelled for some time now,
the journey ride is just 2.50 hours. Let people come and pick you up at the bus station.
On the way if you going with the bus, before enter CR city you will pass by Wat Rong Khoon, the famous white temple of CR. A must see though...plus pls not forget to visit King Mung Hai statue in town...make some pray for me too hehe... laugh.gif

Good good Ai, that you're not nightlife type of person because CR is not a night life kind of place. biggthumpup.gif
Lots of Na and Doi you will see and maybe you might get boring of it 555, j/k laugh.gif

Really, so you was in CR around winter time right?
Yes Mae Chan, everyone passed this town if they go to Mae Sai, what i love about Mae Chan is where alot of hill tribes peoples live there, also you can buy the most sweetest pineapple, the famous one of our province, Nang Lae pineapple, plus at certain point when you looking at the mountain the shape is just like a lady laying down...we call this mountain Doi Nang Non biggthumpup.gif

Nah...cold? The temperature at the lower plain its just around 15-25 or something. While at Phu Chee Fah its 10-13...its nice hehe laugh.gif
Dont think this year will last long though...maybe short winter (Thai standard of winter).
Now the weather gets cooler start from 18.00 pm. Taking a shower can be a bit cold haha laugh.gif

No, I was being there around March - April almost 10 years ago.
But I think the weather was still cold, because I was not familiar with the Northern's weather.
In the south it's always hot and humid. laugh.gif
Every morning I woke up and I saw the fog, it made me don't want to take a bath. embarassedlaugh.gif

Yes Mae Chan, everyone passed this town if they go to Mae Sai, what i love about Mae Chan is where alot of hill tribes peoples live there

I went to Mae Chan hospital and stayed there for 1 month.
There were many hilltribes patients came to this hospital.
The elderly patients could not speak Thai, but their offsprings could.
So they have to bring their children to the hospital to be a Thai langauge translator to the doctors. laugh.gif

I also had a chance to visit the hilltribes people's houses on the hills to check for their health status.
That was very impressive to see their lives and culture. biggthumpup.gif

Yes, I went to Mae sai and crossed the border to Ta Kee Lek market too.
I wish I'll have a chance to visit Myanmar someday. love2.gif

Oh, and I went to Mae Fah Luang district too to visit Doi Tung palace and garden.
It's really beautiful and impressive. biggthumpup.gif

For the past 10 years the climate changed a great deal. Its not so cold like before anymore and its global thing though. Like here in Belgium we hardly have snow unlike 10 years ago. Sure its cold but not very freezing cold where you can ice skating outdoor at the corn fields (in a shallow pool of water).
LolZ you're scared of frogs? I found them cute 555.

I'm sure now people can speak more and better Thai, perhaps they have more help from the NGO or private help organisations either Thai or foreign.

Tha Ke Lek is favourite weekend out for Chiang Rai folks... laugh.gif
Do some shopping, eating out and go home. Thats pretty much it.
Cross over into Burma, i've never done it yet but i heard you can go as far to Chiang Roong or Muang La. However it seems to be very tense with Burmese border security.
Hehe i go to Doi Tung almost every time i go back home. Dont know why but its something to do with Prathat Doi Tung, its very sacred to peoples of CR.
The garden of the Doi Tung Palace blooming all year round. Really beautiful and a jewel for CR indeed. biggthumpup.gif
