The world largest golden Buddha image at Wat Trimitr, near China town Bangkok.
Phra Sukhothai Trimitr, Ancient Sukhothai kingdom artistic style.
พระพุทธรูปทองคำใหญ่ทีสุดในโลก พระสุโขทัยไตรมิตร/หรือ พระมหาสุวรรณปฎิมากร ศิลปะสมัยสุโขทัย

Wat Trimitr Map

QUOTE
Phra Maha Suwanpatimagorn or Sukhothai Trimitr Golden Buddha Image is the largest Golden buddha Image in the world. It is a Buddha Image in the mara conquering attitude, the typical artistic style of the days when sukhothai was the capital of Thailand. It is made of pure gold. The Image is unrivalled in beauty, measuring 12 feet 5 inches in diametre and has a height of 15 feet 9 inches from the base to the crown and it weighs approximately 5 tons. Now more than 700 years old, it is a valuable treasure of Thailand and of Buddhism.
Originally, this golden Buddha image was completely covered with plaster to conceal it from the enemy then invading Thailand and was installed as the principal Buddha image in the main temple building of Choti-naram Temple or Wat Phrayakrai, Yannawa District, Bangkok in the third reign of the Chakkri Dynasty in the Ratanakosin era. When Chotanasam Temple was deserted in about 1931, the East Asiatic Company, with official permission, extended its operations into the land area of the deserted temple.
The Ecclesiastical Commission then move this golden Buddha image to the Trimitr Witthayaram Temple where it now remains, discovering in 1955 that it was made of pure gold. Reverend Phra Visutha-thibordee, the late abbot whose image is in the sitting position in front of this temple, joined in the construction of the temple building for the golden Buddha Image to be enshrined. When the building was completed and while preparations were being made to move this Golden Buddha Image to the building, the covering plaster was partly broken. Only then did the people realize that it was golden Buddha Image. Thus, it has been treasured for its historical, artistic and cultural values to this day. Part of the covering plaster is also on display inside the temple building.
Phra Maha Suwanpatimagorn or Sukhothai Trimitr Golden Buddha Image consists of serveral large buildings including a fine bot with red doors and a crematorium. A driveway, wide enought for tour buses, winds round behind the bot to a small chapel reached by ascending a flight of steps to first-floor level. Located not far from Hualampong Station in the backstreets at the edge of Chinatown, this wat is just off the Charoen Krung Road to the right from a roundabout with a fountain in the middle. Look for the chedi above the rooftops or ask someone. Just say "What try-mitd." Ii is open 8:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M. daily. Admission free.

Wat Pra Kaew ("temple of the Emerald Buddha") is the most venerated temple in Bangkok and is home to the Emerald Buddha statue in the main hall. Possibly the most spectacular display of detail & architecture in the country (the most incredible I've ever seen anyway)

every inch of this incredible temple complex looked like this. You could randomly point your camera anywhere and get something in the frame that would make you go 'woah'.

the guy on the left was one intense dude.
there were about a half dozen Thai people kneeling before this monk, bowing and obviously asking him for something. From what I gathered he seemed to be lecturing or preaching to them, and was obviously demonstrating some sort of authority. Even the other monk appeared to be in slight awe, though what he was doing holding a bottle of ketchup was a mystery to me.

I don't know why stuff like still interests me. I guess even monks have to call people. I suppose they mow their lawns, take out the garbage, brush their teeth, and use the toilet just like everyone else too. I'd love to have photos of a monk doing any of those things though.

the tuk tuk (if I got the name right) is one of Bangkok's many means of transportation. This three wheeled taxi whizzes dizzingly thru the streets of bangkok, negotiating some of the world's worst traffic. You don't get to where you're going any faster, but it's sure worth the ride.

Do thai live by those statements or are thai just using those fancy words to attract and sell to tourist. With money now a day anybody can make and create anything eye candy. Just look at United Emirate, its a desert now its a jem, jew, however you want to call it.

Bangkok looks nice but what i'm more interested is the thai, the people and their attitude. Are they friendly like its says in the brochure, culture, or this is just to get me going there and provide poor service if i can't or wont spend big bucks.

Are khmer welcome in thailand or most/all thai have some sort of grudge on khmer confused.gif , you can be honest i'm not going to hold anything against you, i rather hear the truth then sweet talk of nothing. Because i heard a lots of bad treatment by thai toward khmer.

Well thailand population is about 65 million, and still a third world country, even though they never been colonized by the westerners, of course Japanese imperial army might disagree. Million are dirt poor and will do anything for money, prostitutions are cheap, ladyboys are plenty, more like a dog eat dog world. Some are nice but many are not. The chance of you getting rob and kill is very high, once time Thailand crime level was only behind Mexico City. What i am saying is that, be careful when you're in the land of the fake smiles. biggthumpup.gif

Without being bias, yes bangkok is nice, but for me i'm more interested in the people and not fancy buildinds and toys. So what is your opinion, are they nice to khmer people? Durian is one of the stinkiest fruits around. Some airports won't even allow it to be transported because of the odour it can cause on the plane (besides the fact that many airlines don't allow the transport of any fruit these days). But it sure is yummy!
This guy was riding around his cart selling fruit to the local restaurants for the morning breakfast, which is where I was sitting when I took this snapshot.

(this is how rainbows are made)

I came across this statue twice in the same day. In the morning, as I was heading out to visit Wat Prah Kaew in Bangkok, I passed by and snapped a shot, against a plain grey sky. Then, in the late afternoon as I was heading back to my hotel, I passed by it again, and this was the beautiful backdrop I was blessed with. This regal statue looks like it belongs in this sky.
I was inspired to post this because of the beautiful statue photos I saw in the photostream of a good friend of mine. And I love elephants.

yes we are, just think about it, when was the last time cambodia ever try to do harm to anyone of our neighbor, never. I'm talking about the present and not some century ago. Cambodia always been the victim, lost lands, temples, insults, etc. I'm not being bias on this but for those who don't like khmer for whatever reason at all should move on. We are going to be nieghbors till the end of this planet so we might as well learn how to care for one another. For those who hate khmer, they should ask themself what did the khmer ever done to them, and it has to be base on actual facts, and real occurence, and not something they heard by ears or heard it from someone they admire.
