Just got off an email exchange with one of my buddies. His parents made a killing in a few weeks, by buying Korean won from overseas. They bought the Won at around W1550 per one US dollar, when the bottom was dropping out - they knowing fully well that it couldn't go on. Today's currency rate is now W1400 per one US dollar. That's a hefty 10% profit gain right there in over couple of weeks. They will wait until tomorrow and possibly cash out - earning just over $10,000 in matter of days. If they wait longer and if the Won goes back to the expected W1100 range by end of this year, then they could possibly make triple what they so far made - that is if the plan pans out. Apparantly there are lot of Gyopos overseas who are making a killing playing in the Korean currency market. This financial crisis is turning out to be a big opportunity for some people.

I wish I had that kind of extra money to play around with.. now we know why the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

PS: S.Korea is expected to post the greatest monthly trade surplus for March. So much for all the British press wishfully predicting and scaring away all the investors, that Korea is going to be bankrupt by end of this month. They were wrong last September, and they are wrong once again this year.

that is if the world economy can really improve, which is really doubtful. by no means a sure deal.

theoretically, currency speculation or any form of commodities speculation is good for the economy since buying when price is low and selling when price effectively smoothes out the prices for the currency/commoditie and stabalizes the market.

essentially speculation brings resources from when they're abundant from one time period to another period when the resource is scarce through storage.

too bad most people can't manage to sell high and buy low lol... too bad

High dynamic of your currency is really not a nice indication of your finanical power, you know that means your currency market become a playground for hedge funds and your gov can do little about that

gambling is bad

currency trading is alright if you can make it out of it.
but very risky.

You're better off dealing pot. Less gamble
