Tight skinny jeans, and clothes usually fit for 20's and 30's women are now all the rage for 40's and 50's ajummas.
With people living longer and heathier, they look younger. With longer lasting youth, comes the change in fashion. Women whatever their age, want to look sexy, attractive, and healthy. Traditionally Korean women, after getting married, were usually expected to cut off their long hair, perm them, and expected to look and play the part of a respectable a-sexual middle aged housewives called "ajumma". That moral has been revolving for the last 10 years, and thus the change of taste in fashion for women. Retailers selling ajumma style clothes are doing poorly, while retailers targetting 20's and 30's fashion are thriving at the expense of the former. I've seen some real hot looking ajummas (with older children in tow) before, and sometimes I had to wipe my eyes - sometimes they shame a 20 year old in looks. Who says you have to play your age part just because you've hit 40? Why shouldn't they have the right to look good and attractive? Out with the Confucianism and in with liberty.
