Cambodia had one of the biggest movie industry in SE Asia before the civil-war. It was up there with Thailand. Matter of fact their were a few Thai/Khmer Joint films in the 50s and 60s. Thailand copied some of our films you see today. "Pous Keng Kang" aka "The Snake King's Wife" was a big hit in Thailand. "Crocodile Man" received a positive result after its Showing on Hong Kong Cinema. The Success of aboard releasing opened the way for Khmer films to seen in Foreign Cinema such as Puthisean Neang Kong rey (film) and "The Snake Girl".The Trend, also build up The good relationship to oversea countries for movies business in Cambodia.

"In The Golden Age, not all The films just released in Local Country, Most of Khmer Famous films could be found in Some Neighbor Country as well. This era with well received.[3] Pos Keng Kang (The Snake King's Wife), a Khmer Horror period, made a big hit in Thailand while Crocodile Man from 1970s, received a positive result after its Showing on Hong Kong Cinema. From what I read online, the film Vinyan got its name from a Thai word for a restless spirit.
It was written and directed by Belgian film maker Fabrice Du Welz, who previously made another horror film called The Ordeal.
Both films have a style of cinematography that makes the wilderness look very menacing.
But before you buy the DVD, read some reviews to check if it is likely to be something that you will enjoy.

The trailer for Vinyan is here on YouTube.
