Many people still think that North Korea is a very poor country. However, that is not true. Please see the map below.

Let's say the world has 200 countries and it has 4 groups. North Korea belongs in the 3rd group.

First Group: Most Developed
Second Group: Developed (South Korea here)
Third Group: Developing (North Korea here)
Fourth Group: Countries in the map below

North Korea was richer than South Korea up until the 70-80s... then Kim Jong Il took power and fu-ked everything up. From pictures of North Korea, you can tell that it is not as poor as some third world countries... the problem with North Korea is its political and economic systems.

N.Korea is an industrialized nation.
Madagascar - not really.

OK. A developing country with massive starvation and a Stalinist dictatorship.

North korea was supported by buffed soviet aid disguised to claim that socialism works. the screw up actually happened during kim il-sung.

The critical point is not whether it is ranked 3rd or 4th, but the fact that it has the resources to be in the second catagory and is not.
