Wrong. Issan was part of Vientiane kingdom. Vientiane is in Central Laos. Tai Puan aka Xieng Khuan is in Northern Laos. So what you're saying doesn't make sense.

And by the way, the Khene wasn't created in Xieng Khuan. The Khene was created in Savannakhet, which is in Southern Laos. Well, Savannakhet is not really considered Southern Laos.

When the majority of Lao people think of Southern Laos, they think of Pakse and further down.

Savannakhet and Khammouan is more of what I call, South-Central Laos.

By the way, Savannakhet is home the most numerous traditional folk music. Other province have only 1 or 2 at the most. Savannakhet has around 5 or 6.

Lum Khonsavan, Lum Phu Tai, Lum Tang Wai, Lum Ban Xort, Lum Phern, all these Lum originated in Savannakhet. And alot of these Lum are sung by the Thai Issan. As a matter of fact, all the well-known Lum are from Laos. Lum Puan, Lum Salavan, whatever, all from Laos.

I'm talking about the depopulation of Xieng Khouang after King Anouvong's prosecution by the Siamese after the sack of Vientiane. Of course Issan was part of Vientiane kingdom. But at one point there were many Lao captives from XK province across the Mekong and to Issan.

I don't care where the Khene came from that's not the point. All i'm saying is the it's a Lao instrument and that the Thais got it from Lao issan people.

^Where is your source to back up this claim? Why would the Siamese get Lao people all the way near the Gaeo border in Northeastern Laos and bring them over to populate the Isan region? Prove it.

From ALL scholarly facts I've encountered (not some fake history $hit from the Thai government, random websites, or Wikipedia), Siamese took the majority of the captives from the Viengchan Kingdom, "aka Isan region too". Don't you think that it's ironic that the people in Isan still carry on the accent found mostly in Central and Southern Laos and not Northern? Do you even know how Xieng Khouang people even sound like? Because I sure do and trust me, the majority of people from Isan did not come from the north part of the kingdom.

King Anouvong fled to XK after the sack of Vientiane.

Look dude, did you even read my post? The Khene was created in Savannakhet, which is present day Laos. Not Issan and not in Xieng Khuan which is in Northern Laos.

Savannakhet is in Southern Laos. But the majority of Lao don't consider Savannaket as Southern Lao. You know why? If you don't know, then let me educate you. The reason why Savannakhet is not really consider Southern Laos is because of their Accent.

Their Accent is not as harsh as what is traditionally regarded as Southern Lao accent. When Lao people think of real Southern Lao, we're referring to the Deep South like Pakse and down further. That's what we consider real Southern Lao accent.

Savannaket is more in between the Middle. That's why I consider Savannakhet as more of South-Central Laos.

And like I said, Savannakhet has the most Lum(traditional folk songs) than any other place in Laos. And for obvious reason.

Not sure why but the Khene isn't my focus in this argument. Do you want me to say that it's a Lao instrument or not? i guess i'll say it's a THAI instrument. Happy now?

Seriously, do you even know what you're talking about? The whole population of Laos was depopulated, not just one province. You think only Xieng Khaun was depopulated.

You'll find people from Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and pretty every place in Laos in the Issan region.

Of course every place and kingdom gotta be depopulated at a point. But i'm being specific here dude. If i want to i could say depopulation happened in all of Laos but i didn't. Why? because i want to be specific here.

King Anouvong fled to XK province. I think he did this because he was hoping for Vietnamese allies to come to his aid. But then XK turned him to the Siamese and along with that many many people from XK.

I'm not saying that the Lao in Issan were EXCLUSIVELY from XK. War between Vietnam and Siam through laos happened countless times. Of course prisoners from all of Laos will end up in Issan region.

When it come to the Thai Isan thread like this the Buddha guy is so silent? Dont him confident to say some things good about his comrade ,instead of hiding him self behind the Lao who is on the other side of Maekhong river?
